At Black Box Fort Worth’s weightlifting team practice you will experience the comraderie and team atmosphere that helps everyone thrive. There is always a coach on site to give technical feedback and tweak your program according to your needs for that day.
The weightlifting team meets at 6:30pm everyday of the week and is open to anyone interested in learning and doing the lifts (Snatch and clean and Jerk) on a regular basis.
The snatch and clean and jerk make up the Olympic sport of weightlifting. They are two of the most technical movements in sport and add on top of that the fact that the goal is to lift heavy weight only maximizes the complexity. When performed well they feel like a good golf swing, when done incorrectly the movements can be as frustrating as a long day on the golf course chasing your ball through the woods.
The snatch: also the fastest movement in sport is not only very technical but also very valuable for those who play other sports or have other activities outside the gym. The beauty is in the movement and the challenge is in perfecting it. We work in a top down progression and are able to pinpoint trouble movement before it becomes too ingrained in the body. This is the value of having a coach on site daily.
The clean and jerk is a much more strength based movement as the margin of error is much greater. Therefor, to get better at the clean and jerk you must strength train. Your coach will assist you with the programming of this but the hard work is done by you!
